Brighton Vegfest 2014
It was a bright sunny morning, so expectations were high that this years vegfest was going to be the best event we'd ever held in Brighton...we weren't disappointed!
The crew rest after putting the stall together!
It was a bit of a shock on our arrival as we had been moved from our expected pitch to another one.
Knut shows concern about the position of the stall
After a little moving around though we had the stall all sorted out.
For this years show as well as the expected toys we brought a few extra things for people to play with. One of them was the awesome vertical jumper. It is kind of like a belt that has rubber bands attached to it & you put those under your feet so you can squat with added resistance, but without any stress on the back at all! A handy device if you have back issues...you can also use it for training your vertical jump.
The other extra toy we brought along was the portable power jumper this goes around the back of your neck & attaches to under your feet.
Both of these toys are made by a vegan coach named Jon Hinds & his company lifeline USA so feel free to invest in those. The portable power jumper is a little light for many people, but you can buy stronger bands to make it harder if that is something you want to try.
The pull-up challenge went on throughout the weekend, but to make things easier I'll put together all the winners in one place. There were over 50 people who successfully completed the challenge (so next year expect the amount of reps needed to rise!). Guys were expected to do 6 reps & gals had to get 2 reps. So, hopefully I get everyones picture with the right name (I apologise in advance to anyone I get wrong).
Sponsors of the Pull-up were:
Yaoh makers of all things hemp
No one expected quite so many successful entrants
so show your appreciation by supporting the sponsors of the event as it
cost them a lot of prizes!
We met the guys into extreme callisthenics. I failed to get any photos as I was holding the bar wghile they did their stuff. They did human flags, a few planche variations & a few other tricks I couldn't even name, but check them out over at iambarfit
Alex Mitchell was interviewed by Talia for local radio. It's just a shame they couldn't see Alex as he is a massive guy!
Inverted row contest
Before we knew it the time was 5PM & it was time for the inverted row contest.
We had a lot of support this year from our sponsors, so support them by popping over to their pages & buying some goodies!
& of course nothing could be possible without Maz the Gob, so support his cookbook for new vegetarians & vegans or those who want to fool meat eaters by making food that tastes exactly the same as they are already eating!
Vegusto - makers of vegan alternatives to meat, cheese & other foods
Lush - all sorts of cosmetics
Plamil - vegan company who sell milk, sauces, chocolate, soup & many other foods

Next up came the men to give it a go
Sunday saw us losing Alex, but gaining James on the stall. It was mothers day, so we expected a slower day. It was slightly less busy, but after the excitement of Saturday a slightly slower day was not a bad thing! The pull-up challenge continued & we had a great time meeting new faces & old freinds. Gareth Zeal popped over before his talk & Neil Robinson made an appearance as well as visits from last years inverted row winner Dave & the return of the victorious Matt fresh from his inverted row victory the day before.
Before we knew it the weekend was coming to an end & it was time to pack-up & head for home. It was sad that the event was over, but everyone was pumped with how well the event went this year. So it was time to return home as we had people who had missed us while we were away from home
Onnie was glad when the event was over & it was time for tea
As usual we'll end by putting up our sponsors again with the pictures of our inverted row contest winners getting prizes.
The veganicity crew...just cos we can put them there ;-)
