Intro

This year we were at the exciting new venue of the Brighton Centre. For once we had a chance to set up early as we could set up on the Friday night, so it wasn't out usual rush to get everything unpacked & set-up as soon as we arrived.

Day 1

James on the stall
James on the stall

Mr James commanded the stall at the start of day one in his usual fashion, helping to push the vegan bodybuilding message out to the hoardes that arrived for the first day of the Brighton Vegfest.  We noticed many more vegetarian & interested meat-eaters than at previous events which can only be a good thing.

Pull-up challenge

The pull-up challenge went on throughout the weekend, but to make things easier I'll put together all the winners in one place.  There were 40 people who successfully completed the challenge (so next year expect the amount of reps needed to rise!).  Guys were expected to do 7 reps & gals had to get 3 reps.  So, hopefully I get everyones picture with the right name (I apologise in advance to anyone getting the wrong name).

We had no prizes, but thanks to the fab people at the APA we came up with a few prizes for the day

Maybe not the healthiest prize ever, but getting sweets did seem to encourage loads of people to enter!

Pull-up victors!

No one expected quite so many successful entrants again this year. We upped both the male & female total by 1 rep each
Remember all the guys got at least 7 reps & all the ladies got at least 3 reps.  The people below aren't all the entrants, just those strong enough to succeed in the challenge! I will add in both Saturday & Sundays entrants so as to keep things a bit clearer.  There were a LOT of winners, so if I get your name wrong please acept my apologises as we had camera issues & other problems that plagued us during the event...

Sunday

Saturday had been a really busy day, most of the stalls we had talked to had either sold out of goodies or had done incredibly well.  For us though it was the main day with a talk & the long awaited return of the inverted row competition.

Talk

Paul from the vegan society & Anastasia in matching green with Alex in the background

First event on the cards was the talk by Anastasia Zinchenko & Alex Mitchell. Although I missed the actual talk, all the accounts are that Alex did an amazing job of giving some down to earth, in the trenches, advice for people wanting to train hard; while Anastasia focussed on the science behind why you should eat & train certain ways to achieve certain goals. If you needed to know about training, those two had the answers!

Before we knew it the time was 4PM & it was time for the inverted row contest.  Many people had stayed especially to watch or compete in the contest. It was fantastic to see such an excitable crowd after such a ram-packed list of events the vegfest provided earlier in the day.  For many this was the highlight of the their whole weekend...& this year wouldn't disappoint!

Wrap-up

We had a few camera issues cropping up & so we had a few less pictures of the weekend than we would have liked.  We had a fantastic time & the crowd at the event was amazing.  if you haven't been before I suggest that you try to come along next year or pop to one of the other vegfests or similar events happening all over the UK.

As usual we'll end by putting up our sponsors again with the pictures of our inverted row contest winners getting prizes.
