Alex, Anna & Maz in action on the stall

This was an especially exciting event as it was the long anticipated return of the London Vegan Festival!  An event that had been missing for the calendar for several years now.  This year we had the added bonus of Alex Mitchell Vegan Bodybuilder & his partner Anna as well as the author Maz.

Talk

Pete & Alex talk to a packed house
(they had actually stuck their fingers to the table, but luckily no one noticed ;-)

After setting up the stall, the first on the agenda was a talk by Alex & Pete all about training, diet & recovery. The room was packed at the start, but within minutes there was literally no more room for people to enter! We did have a free leaflet to give away, but the numbers had been totally underestimated.  There is a copy to download from here to get some idea about how the talk was laid out. A lot of the talk focused on Alex, his training, diet & recovery methods & how he intends to succeed as a bodybuilder. As well as how others can use similar techniques to achieve their goals.

Pretty in Pink

Alex rocking the only XL pink shirt

Alex was pleased with the matching pink shirts him & Anna got for their joint gym adventures. So if you see them hitting a gym near you don't be afraid to say "Hi" (between sets of course!).

Push-up contest

After an incredibly busy day at the stall it was finally time for the contest. This was quite an exciting event as we had new sponsor Vegusto onboard so many of the competitors would be walking home with some alternatives to meat & cheese after the contest!

Female contest

Little did we know we were in for a shock with the female event. We only had 3 ladies, but all the entrants were excellent & the winner was only 1 rep away from the male winner!

Karin started things with a bang getting 45 reps

Anastasia pushed hard to get 25 reps

Karen ended the female contest with a sterling 14 reps

Male contest

The unbeaten male champion Dave Arnold was unable to attend the event so it was time to find a new winner. The males had a more significant pause at the bottom of each rep added than our female contestants, but this is the closest we have come to directly comparing males & females in terms of who is the best at push-ups in the vegan community.

Gary got things started with a respectable 41

Henslk managed a decent 22 reps

Travers ground-out a reasonable 18

Johnny matched Travers at 18 reps

Bart fought his way to 26 reps

M.Fletcher equaled the current leader with 41 reps

Wrap-up

The day was a great success, we met quite a few old friends & made some new ones. A special thanks to the guys over at the APA who gave us a lift back home after a long, tiring day. I think everyone enjoyed the day & Alison & Rob kept the event running really smoothly.

As usual we will end with pictures of everyone getting prizes along with links to the sponsors. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves & you all got the prize you were after.
