West Midlands vegan Festival 2016
Vegan Bodybuilding boys in Wolverhampton
We had several weekends of travel strung together. This was our third weekend out and about. This time our adventures took up up Wolverhampton in the Midlands. First off we have to thank Joolz for putting us up over the weekend, it was really kind of her to allow strangers into her home, they were great company and we had fun hanging out with them. I wish we had more of a chance to talk but it was all systems go as the festival was very busy with 7,000 visitors over the weekend.
But let's back up a bit first. Our day started at 4 O'Clock Saturday morning with a rail journey to London, then onwards to Wolverhampton. With the rail journey over the venue was only about a 10 minute walk from the railway station, so we were ready to go!
After the rail journey we soon had everything set up and were raring to go. We had missed the West Midlands vegan festival for a few years, so we were looking forward to seeing what changes had occurred over the last few years.
For the shoulder press we were very lucky to have Pat Reeves an International powerlifting judge, along with Rise of the Vegan star Steve.
For our first event we had to swap things around a little, so we had the shoulder press competition on the Saturday. The contest was maximum continuous reps, with ladies using 7Kg dumbbell and men using 15Kg dumbbell.
In second for the ladies was Te with 18 reps
Jamie came second for the guys with 29 reps
N came in first for the ladies with 27 reps
Matt came in first for the guys with 30 reps
We had a special prize for Cad who got 14 reps in our under 16 class
Having a contest on both days was a challenge in terms of both prizes and organisation, but despite the issues we were ready to hit the festival again!
Sunday turned out to be as busy as Saturday and we were possibly even busier on that day than the day before?
Prize for Sundays under 16 entrantsSunday was the day we had the push-up contest. In the past at the festival the event proved to be very popular, but as we had missed it for a few years, we wondered how popular it would be...we need not have worried!
The ladies had to do continuous reps
The guys had to pause for a moment at the bottom of each rep.
Beth was second with 21 reps
Richard came 2 for the men with 53 reps
Kim Came first for the ladies with 26 reps
Cosmo came first for the guys with 65 reps
Zane won the under 16's prize of a cake with 22 reps
The end of the
push-ups was the end of our Wolverhampton weekend as we had to
pack up and get to the train for the journey home.
