Animal Aid Christmas fayre 2015

Intro

Anastasia and Maz

I'll start by saying I forgot the banner.  Travel was easy for once.  We got a train without delay and then waited minutes for a bus that took us directly to the event. We unpacked and were soon inundated with people interested in becoming moving to a plant-based diet for both the animals and their own health.  The World Health Organisation report on meat was mentioned a few times. I will have to do blog post about that (on our blog here) as there seems some confusion about exactly what it was saying, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

The stall adventure

Anastasia announced a new job.  Now she has finished her PhD, she has been employed by a US internet company to write about nutrition and bodybuilding research (now THAT is a cool job!), so expect her to be discovering all sorts of new and exciting facts that will allow you to tweak your diet and training! Maz didn't have much new to announce, but there is talk about him launching a youtube channel in 2016!

Issue with racists

Recently there has been some issues with fascist and racists trying to cause problems within the animal rights movement. At Vegan Bodybuilding we believe that the vegan movement should be a safe place for people of all colours, beliefs, sexes & sexual orientations.  We are part of the 'Rights' movement and will act accordingly. We had a couple of known racist verbally assault one of our stall members as he is a well known rights activist.  Thankfully over 99% of the Animal Rights movement reject racist ideology and the people were surrounded and escorted out of the premises. Hopefully that will be the last we see of them. That was the one blot on an otherwise fantastic event.

Push-up contest

After speaking with many people and spreading loads of information about the benefits of a vegan diet it was finally time for the highlight of the day for many of us, the push-up contest. It looked to be a fantastic event with a large, excited crowd...and it proved to be just that!

Wrapping it up

The day was drawing to a close and we were all ready to toddle off home. The day was a great success with several people deciding to make the move towards a vegan lifestyle. We are already looking forward to our next adventure in 2016, so keep your eyes open for that.  As usual we will end with pictures of people getting their prizes and a list of our sponsors.  Support the sponsors if you can.
